Contradictions and obstacles in the development of China's plastic mold industry

The requirements of modern industry for injection molded parts are not only high precision, but also good internal quality. In order to meet these requirements, it is necessary to develop and utilize new injection mold technologies. Currently, new injection mold technologies introduced from abroad are gradually being promoted and utilized in the southern coastal areas, which have played a significant role in improving the quality of injection molded parts. In recent decades, the domestic plastic mold industry has developed rapidly, and the demand and requirements for talent have also become increasingly high. But it is still difficult to solve this thorny problem domestically, which has become the main obstacle to the development of China's mold industry.

It is understood that there are varying degrees of difficulty in recruiting personnel in mold production areas along the coast. In order to attract talents, many local mold companies even recruit across regions, provinces, and cities. Three types of talents make up the mold industry. The "golden collar layer" personnel are proficient in mold design software and mold structure knowledge, and have accumulated a lot of practical experience in their actual work. They are very suitable for serving as technical leaders or technical supervisors in various enterprises. The "gray collar layer" refers to personnel who specialize in designing and processing molds in their positions, accounting for 15% of the mold technology positions in enterprises. Blue collar workers "refer to technical staff responsible for the specific operation and daily maintenance of molds in production positions, accounting for 75% of enterprise positions and currently the largest demand. This has become one of the main obstacles in the domestic mold industry, and strengthening the training of professional talents is an urgent matter for the mold industry.

With the rapid development of the injection mold industry, a new model of injection mold manufacturing based on the information age has emerged. The production efficiency of the injection mold industry has greatly improved, which has a milestone impact on the manufacturing industry. Due to the organic integration of product information and manufacturing information related to injection mold manufacturing activities, traditional manufacturing has experienced rapid development. This advantage has been greatly utilized and demonstrated in the information age. The modern manufacturing process can be seen as a value-added process of the information contained in raw materials, and the driving force of industrial information flow will become the mainstream of the manufacturing industry.

Due to the widespread use of injection molded products in daily life, mold technology has become an important indicator of a country's product manufacturing level. In recent years, injection molds in China have made rapid progress in both quality and quantity, but compared with advanced technology abroad, the technical level of most Chinese enterprises still needs to be improved. At present, compared with the advanced technology level of foreign countries, the injection mold industry in China mainly faces the following problems: the supply-demand contradiction is difficult to solve in the short term: the domestic market satisfaction rate of domestic injection molds has always been less than 74%, with even lower satisfaction rates for large, precision, and long-life molds.

At present, the transfer of molds from industrialized countries to China is accelerating, and international procurement is increasing. The market demand is strong, but production development is still difficult to keep up with, and the situation of supply exceeding demand will continue for some time. Uneven industrial development: Although some companies' products have reached or approached the international advanced level, overall, there is still a significant gap in indicators such as mold accuracy, production cycle, and service life compared to foreign countries, and the overall level of industrial development is relatively low.
